Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google has revealed on Thursday that it will be rolling out a Critic Reviews section on the Google app, which is available on Android and iOS devices.
With Critic Reviews, users can easily pick the best places to eat as Google will now present top-rated reviews and lists from trusted websites. The new algorithm is also capable of showing the average amount of time people spend in some restaurants. It is an efficient tool, especially for travelers who are looking forward to make the most out of their respective stays in their destinations.
Basically, the section will show quick previews from reliable sources such as CBS Local, Eater, UrbanDaddy, Zagat, among others. Should users want to read in-depth reviews, they can simply click on the links found in the results.
How It Works
If a user is craving for dimsums, he or she can simply type “Chinese food” in the search bar and numerous lists will pop out. It really upgrades the experience for everyone, not just for foodies. Users will be able to try new places they have not yet heard of. At the same time, restaurants will be able to put their businesses further on the map. Meanwhile, editors and publishers will be able to increase traffic for their websites as users and restaurants alike take advantage of the new feature provided by Google. Needless to say, the innovative solution is a win-win situation for everyone.
Google App Updates
The latest beta version of Google app also includes new significant features. The Google Now weather and stock sections now pop up every time Now on Tap is triggered on the homescreen. Moreover, the company has also recently launched a new feature that allows users to set up a Google Alert, which will notify them every time a new reference to their names is made on the web. Consequently, it will be easier for users to know what pops out every time their names are looked up on the search engine. However, it is still uncertain whether these updates are part of something else bigger for the app, particularly for Google Now.
