Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is planning to take the fight to WhatsApp and Messenger with the launch of its own messaging app dubbed Allo. The app was first unveiled in May with the tech giant promising to release it later in the summer. According to well-known tipster, Evan Blass, the tech giant could launch the smart messaging app as early as September 21.
Allo Messaging capabilities
While taking the fight directly to the two Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)-owned apps, Google’s new app will come with end-to-end encryption as well as text formatting options. The fact that the app will come with AI-powered features should give it an edge in the industry as the tech giant tries to take the art of messaging to another level.
Thanks to the integration of machine language capabilities, Allo will be able to suggest different responses for text and graphic messages. The app will also come with temporary private messages that users can use to send or reply to messages.
Google Assistant integration is another feature that should make Allo interesting in the messaging world. Users will be able to field questions to the app by word of mouth and get immediate answers from the virtual assistant.
Fending Off WhatsApp Threat
The digital assistant has already proved to be effective in integrating well into conversations something that should take Allo’s capabilities to another level. The artificial intelligence software will tag along conversations, in a bid to provide relevant suggestions that can be used as responses. For example, if one is planning to make dinner reservations the app will provide suggestionsof some of the best places in town and even make a reservation.
Even with the high-end features, it won’t be a walk in the pack for Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) as it moves to make a name for itself in the messaging business. Facebook’s Messenger and WhatsApp stands on its way in attracting a good number of users more so in mobile devices. However, given the smart messaging app features and capabilities it should be able to command a big user base as people continue to explore new and interesting things in the app world.
