Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has finally updated the Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Fire Stick, adding the likes of Home Box Office, Inc. (HBO) HBO Go and HBO Now, and Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) Netflix to the list of search compatible apps and channels. Moreover, users will now be shown with the different availabilities of their respective searches.
Updated Amazon Fire TV
With the new integrations, Amazon.com is now proud to have the biggest cross-provider search of all streaming media devices. Previously, when users look up Netflix original titles such as Narcos, the Amazon Fire TV will only show related results.
With the new update, the Alexa integration has also been enhanced. Users can now exclusively command Alexa to rewind or fast forward videos from Amazon Prime Instant. Furthermore, users can ask the voice-controlled assistant to quickly show them latest score updates from their favorite sports games— a feature available on Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) Apple TV as well.
For a more personalized experience, the Amazon Fire TV can now also allow users to customize their respective home screens with apps, channels, and recommendations.
Marc Whitten, Amazon Fire TV President, has suggested that the new features are statements of how committed the company is to meeting the needs of its consumers. With the updated Amazon Fire TV, it has now become easier for users to find what they are looking for— even if it means providing platform integration with rival companies.
Amazon Restaurants in London
In other news, Amazon.com has also unveiled Amazon Restaurants, its own food delivery service, in London.
Amazon Restaurants first arrived in the UK last year. Amazon Prime subscribers in the UK can have their food delivered right to their doorsteps in just an hour or two. Currently, there are nearly 150 restaurants integrated on the platform.
Al Wilkinson, Amazon Restaurants UK Head, believes that London is home to some of the world’s best restaurants. Consequently, making the company’s delivery service available in the city will further benefit Amazon Prime members. With the integration, some of these restaurants are finally offering fast and convenient delivery services for the first time.
