Are New Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) Products Worth Your Money?

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be having its much-anticipated September event next week, during which it is expected to unveil the latest addition to the iPhone lineup. A couple of new product launches are also rumored to take place on Wednesday with respective commercial rollouts happening in the coming months.

What Buying New Apple Products Right Away Means

If current smartphones are still working well, it’s not highly recommended that consumers immediately dive into upgrading. Apple is known for refreshing its product portfolios every now and then. Consequently, what might be the thing today can easily become obsolete tomorrow— all Apple has to do is hold a product launch event and consumers’ existing gadgets are already things of the past.

Moreover, new Apple products tend to be more expensive during the first few months while prices of older models usually become cheaper. There are some enthusiasts who seek to have the latest gadgets as soon as they become available commercially and never mind the expensive price tags. However, since Apple has so much in store, it kind of makes no sense to spend hundreds of dollars for what will immediately lose the hype. It is also important to consider that this year’s new iPhone is not a major overhaul since the company is widely believed to be reserving a significant iPhone refresh for 2017.

Consumer Sentiment

Branding Brand has recently conducted a survey among 1,000 iPhone owners ahead of the event on Wednesday.

About 51% of the respondents noted that they will upgrade once the upcoming iPhone is out in the market. This indicates a significant increase from the 22% iPhone owners who said that they will upgrade to the iPhone SE earlier this year.

Branding Brand has also discovered that nearly half of current iPhone users are excited about the purported dual-camera feature of the upcoming iPhone. As for the other rumored features such as the pressure-sensitive home button and lack of headphone jack, only 18% and 12% of the respondents are thrilled about them, respectively. As for the new iOS 10, only 21% of existing iPhone owners are excited about it.
