Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) recently announced software updates to 1000 cars, bringing them at a same pedestal as the ones with Autopilot 1 cars. The customers who have recently purchased the Tesla cars got this “Autopilot 1” update, which will allow them to explore a 100% self-driving capability.
The New Year’s Eve Gift
Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO, took to Twitter to post on 31st Eve that HW2 Autopilot software was being uploaded to 1,000 cars. In this week, more number of cars might witness this software update and upload. Gearing up for Detroit Auto Show & Consumer Electronics Show
With annual Consumer Electronics Show as well as Detroit International Auto Show zeroing in, the technology and automotive industries are gearing up to make it large at the platforms.
But, what is interesting is that Tesla will be absent from both these shows. Instead, it will organize its own show for the investors at Nevada on 4 January 2017. The investors will be hosted at Tesla’s Reno-based $5 billion Gigafactory 1.
“Hardware 2” suite customers to have all automation features
Initially, when Musk was announced in October, Tesla had announced that all its vehicles produced from Fremont, California, will henceforth include new hardware suite for a full self-driving capability. However, the company had also warned that a certain features would be absent from a few vehicles temporarily. The Autopilot suite comes with active cruise control, collision warning and automatic emergency breaking.
The customers getting “Hardware 2” suite can get a hang of all these features now.
Interestingly, Tesla cars that are running on Autopilot hardware since October 2014, have fetched it over 1.3 billion miles of data from vehicles running under different weather and road conditions.
