Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) has introduced a new feature that lets users retrieve their older tweets from their archives and retweet them again.
The feature new feature allows users to celebrate themselves by reposting their old tweets on the microblogging platform and even quoting themselves. The feature is available through an update, and it allows users to retweet themselves by clicking the retweet button in the same way they would share tweets from other people. The retweet icon appears underneath the selected post, and it gives the users options whether to re-share earlier posts in their original structure or to quote them with additional text. The latter is however limited to 116 characters in the additional text.
Twitter made an announcement a month ago where it revealed plans to launch updates for the social platform. Some of the proposed changes include simplifying the tweets so that users could get more out of the restricted number of characters. Quoting tweets and retweets are among the new features announced during the reveal in May. Users would previously have to include a link to their older tweets if they wanted to refer to their previous posts in new messages. Other than that, Twitter users have a tool called #FirstTweet, which they can use to retweet their first tweet on the social platform.
The new changes highlight the company’s efforts to maintain its promise of streamlining tweets. Apart from those changes, the company has also that it recently invested in SoundCloud. The company now owns a share of the online music service which it acquired for $70 million. Sources familiar with the matter claim that the acquisition could be worth as much as $100 million. SoundCloud was valued at round $700 million in 2014.
Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, revealed that his company invested in the online music platform earlier this year. He also stated that the two firms have been good partners over the past few years. SoundCloud released a statement confirming the investment and also added that it will maintain its focus on creating value for its users.
